What are the requirements for primary membership in the MLS and IDX?
NEGBOR follows the NARs Qualification for MLS Participation and IDX:
- Participants must be REALTORS® who are a principal, partner, corporate officer, or branch office manager acting on behalf of a principal.
- Participants must hold a current, valid real estate broker’s license.
- Participants must offer or accept compensation to and from other participants (or be licensed or certified by a state regulatory agency to engage in the appraisal of real property).
- Participants (other than appraisers) must actively—continually and on an ongoing basis—endeavor to: a. list real property of the type listed on the MLS in which participation is sought and/or, b. accept offers of cooperation and compensation made by listing brokers in the MLS.
Information about the areas covered by Northeast Georgia Board of REALTORS (NEGBOR)
NEGBOR covers several cities in the mountainous regions from Murphy, NC to Ellijay, GA. The dual-state MLS is headquartered in Blairsville, a small town of about 620 located on the northern border of Georgia. Blairsville is also home to the highest point in Georgia, which is Brasstown Bald at 1,458 feet. The lowest point in the state is the Atlantic Ocean.
Northern Georgia and Western North Carolina offer beautiful views of the Appalachian Mountains, historic towns, pristine lakes, and hiking trails galore. The quaint downtown districts and mountain views provide a comfortable small town feel for its residents and community. Blue Ridge and Ellijay in North Georgia provide diverse real estate, from lakefront properties to mountain cabins. The historic cities always have something going on, whether it’s the famous annual “Ellijay Apple Festival”, car shows, or antique sales. In the North Carolina mountains, Murphy offers local eateries and shops in the heart of the historic downtown area, as well as an abundance of outdoor recreation. Lake Hiwassee is considered one of the most beautiful lakes in North Carolina and is the perfect place for a day of fishing, boating, or water sports. The mountains surrounding the area offer peaceful hiking trails and campgrounds. The Northern Georgia and Western North Carolina mountains are sure to please any nature-lover with an affinity for adventure.
The mountainous regions of Georgia and North Carolina experience warm summers and short, but cold, winters. The summer high is around 86°F, while the winter low falls to 26°F. The area averages 57 inches of rain per year and around 4 inches of snowfall per year.
